Basic Avalanche course: Powder Safety


In short:
The essential basics for safe powder runs: avalanche knowledge, equipment, Avalanche 3×3 method, riding technique.

Course Content:

  • Read and understand the avalanche bulletin
  • Proper equipment and correct handling
  • valanche 3×3 (hazard assessment in the terrain)
  • Powder riding technique

Requirements:

  • Confident powder riding skills on slopes up to 30°

What to bring:

  • Own equipment (snowboard or powder skis — no regular skis!)
  • Avalanche transceiver (LVS), probe, shovel (own equipment)
  • Helmet (mandatory)
  • Equipment can be rented at Bananas Gislersport.

Other information:

  • Minimum participants: 5 | Maximum: 16
  • Combo discount: Book the Off-Piste & Touring Course at the same time and get a 30.00 CHF discount.

Off-Piste & Touring


In short:
For those who want to learn tour planning and uphill practice alongside avalanche assessment.

Course Content:

  • Read and understand the avalanche bulletin
  • Touring equipment
  • Avalanche 3×3
  • Tour planning and practical implementation on the slope

Requirements:

  • Safe powder riding on slopes up to 35°
  • Fitness for ascents up to 700 meters of elevation gain
  • Basic course or very good foundational knowledge recommended
  • Ideally, some prior ascent experience

What to bring:

  • Touring equipment (splitboard, touring skis, or snowshoes*)*
  • Avalanche transceiver (LVS), probe, shovel, helmet
  • Equipment can be borrowed from Bananas Gislersport.

Other information:

  • Minimum participants: 5 | Maximum: 16
  • Combo discount with the Basic Course: 30.00 CHF
  • Locals Special: Saisonniers / Einheimische Arosa‑Lenzerheide: 170.00 CHF
